Riverdale concluded its second season with another big cliffhanger — Archie (KJ Apa) in jail and a copycat Black Hood is still on the loose.

We have quite a few burning questions about what is next for our favorite ginger and his friends as they prepare to take on Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) in Season 3. To help prepare for the upcoming season, we’ve collected all the news we’ve seen so far about what’s coming up in Riverdale‘s next run, along with our own reporting and scoop. Keep checking back as we update with all the new developments and tips from the cast about where this crazy show is heading next.

There will be more Toni and Reggie: Season 2 introduced us to a new Reggie Mantle (Charles Melton) and Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan), but we’ll be seeing even more of these lovelies in Season 3. Now that Toni and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) are officially an item and Reggie has been snuggling up to Josie (Ashleigh Murray), there’s more room for them to pop into the storyline. Both actors have been promoted to series regulars for Season 3, according to TV Insider.

Archie and Hal Cooper might get a chance to bond in prison: Don’t forget Archie isn’t the only Riverdale citizen in jail! Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro) is also chilling behind bars for his time as the Black Hood. KJ Apa confided to TV Guide that he hopes Archie gets to confront the man who shot his father at the end of Season 1.

“I’d love to see Archie put an end to [the Black Hood storyline], whatever that means, whether it’s killing the Black Hood or whatever it is to resolve that situation,” Apa told us on the CW Upfronts carpet in May. “I’m anticipating him to hopefully be in prison with Betty’s dad, which could be cool.”

Archie’s prison time won’t threaten his relationship with Veronica: It’s chill, Varchie fans. Archie is in a tough spot but he won’t be adding romantic woes to his list of troubles. Even though Hiram put Archie behind bars, Apa is convinced that Archie and Veronica (Camila Mendes) will find a way to deal with the hardship.

“They’ve been faced with so many hard times and every time they’ve been able to get through it,” Apa told us. “I think they are rock solid.”

Serpent initiations are coming: The end of Season 2 saw Cheryl and Betty (Lili Reinhart) officially asked to join the Southside gang, but Cole Sprouse teases that the girls will still have to earn their fangs.

“I don’t think it’s going to be an easy initiation,” he said. “I don’t think that Jughead is the kind of leader that will be like, ‘Because you’re my girlfriend, come on in!'”

Season 3’s genre is still TBD: The first season of Riverdale was a murder mystery, while the second was a horror film meets The Godfather mafia story. Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teased that he’s not ready to reveal Season 3’s genre yet but it will still fit that “pulp fiction” vibe and will be different from what the show has done before.

Riverdale returns to Wednesdays this fall on The CW.

(Full disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS, one of The CW’s parent companies)
